I attended St. John Jouvert for the first time. The 2023 St. John Jouvert is part of the Carnival celebration. This year the United States Virgin Islands is celebrating 175 years of Emancipation.

Jouvert Started from the National Park Area in the vicinity of Mongoose Junction. There were 3 bands to follow behind (seen in the YouTube video link above)

I must be sooo out of touch that I was hoping to see the Pro Style Band performing. Everyone did well. It didn't seem like many folks knew today was STJ Jouvert. Even when we got back to St. Thomas, folks just weren't aware. I can't say I saw much promotion for this event either.
Water Trucks
You would think that after experiencing at the 2023 St. Thomas Jouvert (video link here), I would brace myself for the same in STJ.
In my defense, I didn't realize these water trucks became a permanent staple in the Jouvert. I thought the water trucks were for Wet Fetes only, but I was mistaken. I am not a fan of the Water Trucks. You should've seen the amount of ppl running including myself as I was trying to keep my devices dry. The Ferry ended up with wet chairs (Maybe they are accustomed).
I'd prefer to get the water as a drink. I'm going to purchase myself a hydration pack like this (As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases):

I had the time of my life at the 2023 St. John Jouvert! The Carnival celebration was off the hook, and it was great to be a part of the 175th year of Emancipation. The bands brought the fun and kept everyone dancing, and I could feel the energy in the air. Let's keep spreading the word about events like Jouvert because they truly embody the spirit of our culture. I'm already excited for next year's celebration!
